Protection from northerly winds and swell. Conditions can change quickly in summer. Entrance to Merimbula Port is shallow but can be negotiated by up to 1.3 metre vessels. Check tides, anchoring is sand and good holding. Danger of southerly blows late in the day in summer but then you can go to the south side of the bay for shelter. It’s a big bay. It’s a two mile or less easy dinghy ride to town where there are supermarkets and cafes. Marine rescue at Merimbula can advise on conditions and tides. Don’t leave the boat if a southerly blow is predicted It can be very calm In this bay. Good fishing for flathead. Just inside the bar entrance there’s a little beach with a cafe for coffee. The bar entrance is usually calm but it’s getting shallow . Good surfing here for beginners
