Very good anchorage sheltered from all winds. Well indeed, sheltered does not mean that the body of water remains like a mirror and that there is not a breath of air. We are currently 7 boats trying a force 8/9 gale This is the second in 2 days. Winds are recorded up to 55 knots. No anchors hunted. We are anchored with 40 meters of 8 chain and a 14 kilogram kobra anchor in 5 meters of water. Our sailboat is 11.5meters and weighs 9 tonnes when loaded. I dived twice to check the anchor and it didn't budge an inch. It was sitting next to a bottle of wine and it is still there. You just need to hook it up and it stays firmly planted The town is 20 minutes away and there is a great little wooden wharf. From there, take the stairs to go up to the city center. If you want to go to a large supermarket you have lidl and eroski opposite each other, 25 minutes away on foot.

Aucunes ancres n'a chassé.

Accurate reviews above. Idyllic - like sleeping on land. Good curry house with proper Indian food Dhaka Spice House in puerto de Mahon on front. Good engine mechanic also - Alistair of Alimar - English guy 687911059.

We stayed for three nights in this lovely sheltered anchorage. Be aware that the light patches are mud not sand (!) so make sure you are well dug in near the green channel markers. You can take a dinghy to the small beach where there is a rubbish bin. It takes about 20 minutes to take the dinghy into Mahon. To the left of the fuel dock are some steps where you can leave your dinghy. There are no supermarkets in the Port but there is a lift to the right of the yacht club which takes you up to the town which is lovely and has some small supermarkets. We took a taxi to the large Eroski further out of town for €7 to provision. There are also plenty of nice bars and restaurants in the port area. Plus some small chandlers, though the best one, Pedros, is about a 20 minute walk round past the large cruise ship dock. Very helpful staff and can order things for you if necessary. It is possible to take your boat through the narrow channel which we did to refuel. Our draft is 1.5m and we still had 2.5m under our keel in the middle of the channel. Note: fuel dock staff are very helpful but even though we arrived at 8.00am there was already a queue. You are only allowed to fill up with water for as long as you are filling up with fuel!
