In calm weather this anchorage serves as a great spot to leave your boat to visit the beautiful Vouraikos Gorge by riding on the historic Diakopto–Kalavryta cogwheel train. After dropping your anchor on sand between patches of weed on 8m, you can take your dingy to the little fishing harbour. From there it is a 1 km walk to the railway station. Trains leave 3 times a day winding up the narrow valley along the river into the mountains. If you get off half way at the Mega Spileon station, you can hike to visit the old monastery or head back for 12 km over the railroad tracks to Diakopto. This will take you through tunnels and over bridges. Although not for the faint hearted, it is one of the most rewarding hikes.
