If you want to anchor for free in New York, you won’t find any better than this spot. The views of Lower Manhattan are amazing, and it’s not far to Liberty Landing Marina or Surf City where we were able to leave our dingy (be prepared to pay or ask very nicely). The ferry to Manhattan goes every 30 minutes for $7 each way. You will roll during the day due to all the ferries, and we did drag anchor in 30 knots of wind, but it’s still the best option if you want to go ashore.
