This place has a thriving and extremely welcoming community of liveaboard cruisers and British ex-pats. We only stayed a couple of days, but were treated like long-lost friends. We left much earlier than anticipated as we wanted to get to know the area better, but we found our holding was very poor. We were surrounded by boats on mooring buoys and when the wind whipped up to 20 knots, we battled as our anchor dragged on the rocky river bed in a really strong current. We made a hasty exit and anchored further down river. However, many of the cruisers we spoke to had wintered in that spot for a number of years without issue.

Beautiful location very rural. Stayed 2 weeks and would overwinter there if we had no prior obligations.
