Karlovasi shipyard (Aris) are stars if you have repairs to be done. The town was the capital of the now dead tanning industry. Wine has now taken over - much more attractive. The harbour is exposed to the Meltemi and we confirm that ferry movements are a big issue. Pythagoreio and Marathocampos are much better stopoff places. The island is however quite stunning... the wines at least as good as anywhere in Greece (dry white Muscat in particular). Warmly reccomended.

Med-mooring to the town quay. Quite windy and quite a lot of swell creeps in. Free water, not sure about electricity. We were met by the coast guard on arrival. We were the only sailboat except those waiting at the yard to the west in the harbour (mid August!). Close to Potami beach and waterfall. Huge ferries come in a few times a day .
