Anchoring to avoid with strong Levante since there is an effect of acceleration of the wind in the mountains producing strong gusts of wind. We anchor only a few hours. We went from 11 knots to 35 knots in a matter of seconds. We decided to move and anchor in front of the town of Cabo de Gata and El Torreón. Much more comfortable and with less gusts of wind.

We headed for this anchorage to get some protection from a NE wind, but found that the down drafts were so strong we couldn’t even consider staying. Very exposed. We didn’t even lay our anchor.

Very pleasant anchorage. Busy on the beach with friendly locals.
