We weren't sure if we could get into port because of our strong draft so we stayed at anchor. There is a small bottom swell which can make it roll and especially traps just in the fore harbor + a wreck. Take a good look at the cards. Honestly, this stop is not of much interest because it takes 2 hours to get to the bottom of the bay, but it has to be done because there is no other stop between Durres and Saranda. On the other hand Luigi at the port was nice and put us in touch with a taxi to visit Apolonia which is a magnificent site. The restaurants in Vlora look nice especially Le Mandarine quite chic and the private beaches near Vlora looked good (better than Orikum's). Attention not possible to make the clearance to leave the country.

We anchored in 3 metres of sand about 200 metres off the swimming buoys which appear to run the length of the coastline here, making it hard to see where you could dinghy ashore. The metal rods mentioned in other posts are just outside these buoys near the groynes east of the marina. Entrance to marina looked tricky and would have cost us 80 euro a night for our 13.99metre sailboat. The anchorage was excellent, but need to be wary of fishing pots on approach.

Good holding, susceptible to northerlies. Plenty of room but as previous comment, keep an eye out for metal rods protruding from old jetty, and fishing buoys on the way in. Had a very comfortable couple of nights here
