Poor anchorage in anything stronger than 15knts. Anchored up 2 cables south in 8 metres depth to sand as storm warning for SW winds due in next 12 hours. 12hrs later woke to 25knts blowing hard again from the SW.mmmmm thought this bay was sheltered from SW winds. No not at this strength. So I took up the orange pippin bouy ( one that says do not moor upto ,sorry bugger that , pilotage says it was a visitors bouy and I use it. Double lashed to the bouy and waited it out. Over the next 48 hours it blew in strength, sea state worsened and the boat was rocked back and too; side by side , wind strength peaked at 56knots though I only managed to capture it at 46/47 knots on the camera. Woke to the third morning to moderate seas and 20knots of wind NW so I thought sod staying here any longer and bugged out under motor sail to Holy head. Tough going but anything was better than this anchorage

Excellent place to anchor for the night. I was enroute from south going to Ireland. Next time I'll go straight from Fishguard to here and forget Pwhelli.

Good holding, very uncomfortable in swell.
