Excellent place to moor up but quite busy. Water taxi service available during the day but call ahead to check times. There is a pontoon next to the lifeboat station which can be used for picking up and dropping off but it’s short and in constant use for slipping boats and can only be accessed a couple of hours either side of low water.

Anchor away from the mooring buoys, the bottom can be weed covered, but a good holding can be had. Some of the buoys are available by phoning the sailing club, no one is usually on the buoys. Lovely town.

Good town to visit, but be careful if anchoring within the area where boats are moored. Anchor held firm and we went ashore. On return we tried to weigh anchor but it was completely stuck on the bottom. On diving down to check snag a huge ball of large chain was found with boats anchor held fast. With several dives managed to free the anchor and then left the bay. Also in strong westerly winds protection at anchor is reduced due to low lying land.
