Excellent shelter in strong east wind between Marina di Ragusa and Marzamemi. Closer to the fishing port, less swell.

Excellent abri par fort vent d'est entre Marina di Ragusa et Marzamemi. Au plus près du port de pêcheur, moins de houle.

For our first anchorage of the 2018 season, perfect coming from the marina of Ragusa. Happy season to everyone

Portopalo is a well sheltered harbour from Westerlies and North Easterlies. We anchored while awaiting strong (F7-8) Westerlies to blow through and the anchorage was just fine. Holding in the sand was excellent. The harbour itself is quiet, lightly trafficked and with ample space for anchoring. Nothing much is available ashore, although the beach is quite nice and the water was clear. Be aware of shallower areas towards the Westerly Breakwater arm, and the rapid shallowing towards the beach.
