The anchorage was fine ,but with a 10 knot nw wind it becomes very swelly. We left our tender behind the fuel station between 2 local boats and tied to dock and had no problem. Easy train to Pompeii € 4.80 return.

Extremely rolly anchorage, worse in day (ferries, day boats) but still bad at night. We moved on after one sleepless night. Coastguard wouldn’t let us take dinghy ashore but marina owner was friendly and let us tie up to his dock for free. Marina fully booked for entire summer unfortunately.

Plenty of room to anchor at reasonable depths and the views of the Sorrento cliffs are impressive. It can be very rolly even if the wind is not blowing onshore. Try to anchor as close to the marina but out of the way of the ferry traffic, to make the dinghy ride shorter. You can land the dinghy to the right of the guardia costiera boat. This is a public dock for dropoff and pickup so try to put your dinghy on one end or the other. Great walking, shopping and dining up in town. An experience not to be missed. A good supermarket, Deco, in town but a long walk back to the water. Try the local bus. Great connections by train to Pompeii.
