Colourful Victorian tourist resort with plenty of facilities ashore. River, estuary and mouth have strong tides, so make sure your outboard is reliable for the trip ashore and back. Also, approach only on slack or flood and exit vice versa. Book ahead essential: 01626773165 or 07796178456.

Very friendly harbour, not well publicised in the almanacs. We were directed to a 20m pontoon with dinghy access to shore. The town has a plentiful supply of shops, cafes, take aways etc and an overly plentiful supply of pubs 20 odd ! We had a lovely meal at the Jolly Sailor but many of the other hostileries looked equally as appealing. In the morning the Harbour Mastrers collected a little cash (only) and chated for a while, they said that despite efforts Teignmouth is still not well publisesed as 24hr access, depending on draught, and a safe haven. Access in easterly and ebb tides is tricky but they are there to help and advise. Three star only because of limited mooring options and zero Anchorage but Lovely.
