It is absolutely forbidden to sail within 1km of this island. Visits limited to 1000 permits a year for 2 weeks in April and 2 weeks in August. 600 of these permits go to school children so no real chance of getting permission

There is only one concrete dock that can accommodate a maximum of one boat. The police of the forest will welcome you cordially! There is no electricity or water, but the place deserves it !!! In order to access the island it is necessary to send an official request to the Italian authorities many months in advance. Only one boat can dock there per day, with a maximum of 15 people. Following rates: 500 € per boat (between 10 and 16 meters) plus 25 € for each person who lands in Montecristo. You can then go around Cala Maestra and visit the museum and the Royal Villa, through different types of trekking routes led by the two Forest Protection Police. Once you have received confirmation of access, you will receive information on VHF and telephone numbers to call for docking.
