We were greeted very friendly in this charter port and had a berth for a few days with a great view of the cathedral. It was surprisingly quiet in the port of a capital city, probably due to COVID-19. The supermarket nearby was also closed. Otherwise we could spend a few very nice days here, with excursions to Sóller and by bike to S‘Arenal. The old town and restaurants, tapas bars and the like can be reached on foot very easily. Unfortunately, the WiFi only worked to a limited extent. For our sailing ship (13.85m) we paid about 70 € / night.

This could be one of the best marinas in the Med - but is unfortunately one of the worst in my extensive experience. It masquerades as a charter marina, but is really a private marina servicing tired bareboat charter fleets. The marina was our base on and off for more than a year. We saw terrible things: such as one of the charter companies people emptying a black tank onto the pontoon and into the harbour water, literally spraying merde over the backs of the boats near there. We saw two very bad industrial injuries, one involving hands and a bow thruster, and the other serious damage to all the tendons of an arm. Cockroaches in the shower/toilet blocks. If you have a car, you will not be able to freely park within 2km of your boat; and a great fuss will be made about letting in deliveries and engineering services to your boat. The marina is full to overflowing every weekend with bareboat charters starting and finishing, often involving captains from landlocked countries with limited potential for developing boat handling skills. Mid week it is usually next to empty. Some of the marineros are really good guys, but they work in a system that seems not to be sustainable. Perhaps it will change completely in the foreseeable future. It needs to.
