Superb anchorage with all around protection, perfect for when the wind switches. However the mud holding is soft, and in strong winds many boats drag. Do not anchor with less than 30m of chain with a heavy modern anchor (we have a 25kg anchor and with a 180 degree wind shift >20 knots we dragged 10m or so - on resetting the ‘spoon’ of the anchor was clogged with mud). When anchoring in front of other boats consider that they may have 40m or more of chain out and if the wind has recently changed the mud may mean the chain has not yet straightened out. Beware of the poorly charted very shallow patch in the NE corner, use your eyes to see the change in water colour. Because of this, and that the channel markers are not lit, arrival at sunset or at night is dangerous. Not recommended for large yachts or big catamarans. A visit to the fort is a must, although it is expensive at 8€ a person, get there at opening hours to maximise your visit. Dinghy ride to Mahon is bit of a pain if you don’t have a big outboard. In Mahon on the front towards the Capitinaires office Pedros Boats is the best stocked chandlery we’ve seen in a while.

Very nice little bay at the entrance to Mahon, nice walks on the northwest coast, it seems that the handling is not very good in the mud but in 15 knots with 30 meters of chain, no problem.

Très belle petite baie à l'entrée de Mahon, belles promenades à pied sur la côte Nord-Ouest, il paraît que la tenue n'est pas très bonne dans la vase mais par 15 noeuds avec 30mètres de chaîne, aucun problème.

Very pretty Cala but not at all sheltered by the north wind and it slips a little ...

Très jolie Cala mais pas du tout abritée par vent du nord et ça glisse un peu ...
