Good holding on sandy bottom. Avoid sides as large underground chains. Another boat got a lot of metal rubbish wrapped around anchor. Protection from swell and wind in any direction. Very noisy on the beach all hours. Very busy at weekends with day boats

Everything has been said about the protection and interest of the site. Small flat! The presence of onshore oil tanks and the crude unloading dock that we obviously cannot look at but that we sometimes smell during unloading. In addition to the chain, you must also be careful not to get your anchor in the (metallic) remains of a wreck not shown on the maps and located in the center of the bay. Having dived 7 years ago to verify its existence, I confirm its presence on only a few square meters. Conclusion: Anchor more to the left or more to the right. For me it is also a protection (tested over 15 years) at 360 degrees since we are inside the port. The only movement (and still ...) that I have had is by NE / E storm which creates a kind of backlash.
Great all round shelter inside the harbour on 7-5m sand. Very popular swimming bay, but we were on our own overnight. Cafe and food truck, Mr Whippy visited a few times too. 5 mins walk to convenience store. Spectacular views across to Valleta. Shower & tap ashore.
