The richest landing place on the coast west of Sardinia, Alghero, naturally carved on the pleasant peninsula, overlooks the Riviera del Corallo, leaving all those who come from the sea breathless. The natural harbor that hosted the boats of the first Genoese who founded it in the XII century, around 1102, was a foothold for the merchant routes of the Mediterranean until it became, in the period of Catalan (from the year 1354) and Spanish domination , in a military stronghold that saw its maximum evolution in the fourteenth century. today the port of Alghero, with around 2200 berths, is an important and large example of hospitality for international pleasure boating, as well as being a popular stop for cruise ships. the town expresses itself culturally with an elegant historic center full of exciting opportunities for discovery for fans of Catalan architecture. in addition to this the urban transformations, which ended around the nineteenth century, complete it with countless historical specimens that cite the typical characteristics of the various eras in which the city was lived, from the different cultural climates of which we still find indelible traces in its streets and suggestive urban views. The whole coastal area around the city is beautiful; white sand beaches alternate with cliffs overlooking the sea, flat rocks and hidden coves where you can get lost in an infinite blue and inebriate with the scents of maritime pines and Mediterranean scrub. The typical vegetation of the Alghero countryside is rich in olive groves, vineyards, oak forests and myrtle plants that give this land renowned food and wine and agro-pastoral products.

Nice port! The view on the old city is fantastic and being close to the center there are all the services that can be used.
Bel porto! La vista sulla città vecchia è fantastica ed essendo vicino al centro ci sono tutti i servizi che possono servire.
Very quiet piers compared to those next to the old town. On the other hand, comparatively far from the old town.

We enjoyed this stopover, it is a very touristy city but very pleasant nonetheless. The walk on the ramparts in the evening is to be done, the trip to the fruit and fish market is easily done on foot like a few mini markets. Be careful for the price of the Marina we paid less than the price displayed on Navily the reservation worked really well but the price was different 82 instead of 103 €.
