The Marina of Avilés is probably one of the safest marinas in the entire Cantabrian Sea, located in the interior of a deep estuary that offers you an unusual shelter and protection against any storm. Built in the estuary in the area that housed the primitive fishing port that gave rise to the town of Avilés, it is today close to the urban center and the Óscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center. This privileged location makes it the ideal place for mooring boats at base or in transit, even for international sailors who seek to "hibernate" their vessels in a safe harbor.

Super friendly people in the marina, helpful and kind. The port close to the marina itself rather an industrial - nothing interesting. Excellent food close to the marina and throughout the city. For sure - worth to visit.

The entrance through the estuary is especially interesting and comfortable for navigation. The port is next to the access to the old town of Aviles, which is beautiful and worth it. Bathrooms and showers are closed due to Covid. Ángel, the person in charge is very attentive and very friendly. The visit to Aviles is worth it.
The entrance to the marina through the industrial port, and past the fishing fleet and commercial fish market give a fascinating introduction to the industrial glamour that allowed the town of Aviles to become so beautiful. Yes the marina is simple, and there is a walk to the showers, but the staff are extremely friendly; the location just minutes from the town centre, with easy access to bars and the market, and with total protection and zero swell, it cannot be beaten. And the price to visit is extremely reasonable (roughly half what we paid in Gijon) and this city has much more beauty and culture to offer the transient boater. In addition when we visited they were offering a fifth night for free if you stay for four.
