Nice and friendly stuff. Marina very safe. In the close located marine port you can find any service you need for your boat. We visited the city in winter (and Covid19) - was quite empty but we like it. In summer I would not be here - when all hotels are full - there must be big crowds here. Must see: caves !!!! Worth checking out!!

We overwintered here November 2020-February 2021, during the COVID-19 lockdown. The marina staff speak many languages fluently, they are helpful and polite. The pontoons are well maintained and the shower and toilet blocks are modern and immaculately clean. Depending on the sea state there can be some surge, try to get an inshore berth to avoid the worst swell. The local shops are small and mostly geared to the summer tourist, but with a bicycle you can easily access old Portimao where there is a plethora of super markets and an excellent mercado. As you would expect in a large town you will also find several large hardware and electrical stores and auto factors.

Marina is up a river. Entrance is easy. Staff is not very friendly or helpful. In the office they look all miserable and never smile. Docks are dirty . Big swell coming in the marina and very unconfortable. Lots of dead or dying birds due to pollution and no one cares . No shops close by. Need 20 min walk or Uber for few euros . The town is nice and well worth a visit. Shipyard and chandlery up the river is very expensive. If you are on a budget I do not recommend. I tried to get some metalwork done but it was more expensive than France and very slow . I do not recommend this Marina.
