"The soft face of the Atlantic" Breathing the pulse of the tides and a sea air, Puerto Marina El Rompido is integrated into the Río Piedras, protected from the Atlantic by long sandy beaches. Just below the lighthouse of El Rompido, we take care of the surroundings and the landscape. We want sailors to be free, at anchor and in the heart of nature, having our floating port available. Life with the tides is the challenge, the reward - a unique place.

The shallowest water at the entrance to the river was 0.3m below the tide height at Vila real de santo Antonio. Once inside there are 4 marinas to choose from, they all look exactly the same, a bunch of pontoons projecting out into the river. So why travel past the other 3 to come to this one? The pontoons are excellent, there is loads of space for maneuvering around the marina, the showers and toilets first class, the best so far in Spain, coming south from the Uk. The little town is very lively. Lots of drinking and eating options on terraces, on the street and on the beach. The river is not good for swimming but you can dinghy / ferry (4mins) over to the the spit and walk across a wooden boardwalk to the sea proper for a swim. (EDIT) totally ignore your charts / chart plotter at the entrance. We ran aground briefly following the chart plotter, the shallows have moved completely. Follow the buoys.

After a short 4-mile navigation along the estuary, you reach a wide port with very good services. If your draft allows it, it is a good option to spend a few days in shelter. The current does not affect the maneuvers in excess and the sailors of the port are very helpful. Beautiful sunsets and a very pleasant environment.
