Good place for a stopover. Very well protected, good pontoons. Electricity and water. The marina is half-finished, but charges full price. Did not respond to email and web-enquiry, did not respond to VHF. No WiFi or facilities as listed on website, such as fitness or diesel pontoon. Diesel must be arranged by truck or obtained at fishing harbour. Note that the website describes and shows the finished project (artist impression). Showers lukewarm, some already broken. Personnel difficult to find, not very helpful. Town well worth a visit. Beware of additional “fees” imposed by authorities upon checkout.

The marina met our requirements for customs and immigration, with power and water Included in the price for vessels less than 12m. Our VHF calls on channel 9 went unanswered. As there is no arrival dock, we were given hand directions to our Med mooring berth (As the marina is only 25% full, we noted that later vessels opted for mooring side on). We were directed to remain on our boat until customs and immigration officials came, which took 90 min due to previous arrivals. Marina staff provided a Tunisia courtesy flag for 10TND (€3) while we were waiting. The marina has been open since 2016, and appears to have good security. Several crews left their boat and explored the rest of Tunisia by rental car for several days. It appears that nothing is repaired if it breaks. The docks are littered with broken lights and fittings that are a trip hazard both day and night. The water is full of litter, including floating plastic bags. The artists impression on the website is a fantasy. The crew facilities mentioned on the website do not exist. The western side of the marina is a waste ground. Fuel can be supplied by fuel tanker or small tank on a pickup. The locals all arrive carrying fuel in plastic drums. The only bathrooms/toilets are accessed through the reception area, which is left unlocked 24 hrs. First appearance of the bathrooms is that they are magnificent, however the broken lights, no toilet paper, no hooks, and rotting doors due to moisture, all detract from the facilities. There is no laundromat. Although the marina reduced tariffs in 2019, it is still overpriced. It is approximately 3 times the short term tariff of Tanja Marina Bay in Tangier, Morocco, We were advised however by a resident that long term rates were cheaper than Tangier. Arrival before 12:00 UTC will occur an extra days tariff. Payment is required in cash (TND or € at 3:1) with no advance notice until checkout. A wifi hotspot dongle is available for rent at reception. Prices for data are double the provider online price, however as the supplied dongle is included in the price it is considered a reasonable option if not staying in Tunisia for an extended period. An Ooredoo SIM card is 28TND (€9) for 25GB for 30 days. There are several Ooredoo phone stores in Bizerte.

I came back at the end of July 2018. Everything that did not work in early June has still not been repaired ... and the Wifi no longer existed. Staff very helpful but worried about the harbor getting worse. Pharaonic Marina project related to the potential of boaters. When I left, I was the only boater on the pontoon .... looking for the mistake!
