Very warm welcome and very efficient and available marineros. Entry a little tricky in heavy weather but great protection in the Marina. The Marina is very austere but the city is within easy reach of cycling and in good weather there is a superb beach a few minutes from the quays. We stayed there for a week due to bad weather in comfort and at a very reasonable price (23 € for 44 feet)

This little deportivo and Barbate in general gets a bit of bad press in my opinion. Yes there is some rubbish floating in the marina. That’s unfortunate and gives a bad impression. The concrete breakwater is there for good reason. And yes it’s a little far from the town. Bikes onboard solve that easily. This is a little hidden gem, loved by the Spanish tourists. A fantastic Tuna fishing and eating area. The walk to Cabo Trafalgar through the pine forest is wonderful and the estuary nature reserve is not to be missed. From a sailing point of view the entrance can be very bouncy in rough weather and after bad weather due to the shallow entrance. However it’s far better than the nearby anchorage in which I’ve had some bad nights sleep. Overall the area has a lot to offer and is well placed for exit and entry into the Med.
