Sutton Harbour gives you a kind of friendliness of a municipal harbour without the pretentiousness of a private marina, even though I believe it is private. It’s enormously more friendly and cost effective than its neighbour at QAB. What’s more is possibly the most protected marina in Cornwall and Devon. Zero swell and highly protected from a South-West winter storm. What’s also nice is they have two sections. The posh expensive section with all facilities and the raw basic section with just pontoons and a gate. I wish more marinas would do this. Who wants to pay £40 a night when you just want to store your boat and not use posh showers and wifi. The last thing is that it is arguably the best supported marina in terms of services. All around Commercial Road you have every supplier of every marine thing you could want. The largest chandlery in the UK and GaelForce marine is based in the fishery across the way. www.Chasing-Contours.com

I couldn’t enter because this marina doesn’t accept foreign boats, no matter for how long the boat has been sailing in the UK. Sounds scary.

Good marina facilities in the best placed location to explore Plymouth and take on provisions. The western side of the marina can be loud late at night with music from the bars going on late.
