A well protected harbor with good facilities and a bustling community full of color and interesting characters. The harbor serves as a base for many small local tour operators taking people to the blue wineries and shipwreck beach. The ferry from Kefalonia also docks here. Uncommonable but not dangerous, especially if docked in the SE corner of the harbor where you can find free water, electricity and showers lazy lines if required. If docked side too, make sure you have plenty of fenders between you and the high wall, which is about 2m high, which can make it difficult if you have low freeboard. The tide can also affect this issue, which has a significant difference to the movement of the boat wake. Approach to the harbor is via the NW or NE, there is an island directly north of the entrance to two channels, both with adequate depth of 10+ m. During the day there will be someone on the dock waving you in. Do not be put off by them, they are here to welcome you to their destination. If anchoring take care to leave the road. The closer in one gets the most mooring lines and potential of fouling increases. If entering at night, they should not be allowed to leave the sea. The entrance to the sea has no flashing light on the island. The taverna outside the east wall is providing significant light and there is a tall light about 50m down the east wall illuminating the dock.

We were stranded here for 3 weeks in June after our engine failed and we had to be towed into the harbour. While the traffic from the local boats is annoying at least and uncomfortable at best, we can still highly recommend this port, especially during the week when it is a little quieter. The best part about it is the people, we were humbled by how welcoming and helpful Dimitri and his crew from Theodsris Cruises and Taverna Porto were. They helped with our every need and made sure our boat was safe and secure during our time of need. We spent time on both the east wall and the SE corner. While the east wall was quiet and a bit cooler, the wind and boat chop is much worse here also there is limited water and electricity supply. Whilst on the SE stern to, there is water, electricity and showers available at the Porto Taverna. These services are offered free, though it is obviously polite to support the Taverna during one's stay. Again we can't quite express how pleasantly surprised we were to how genuinely welcoming this community was and can recommend visiting the port just to get a renewed sense of optimism for humanity.

after not finding a space outside the Marina Dimitri from taverna Porto waved at us to help us berthing at the quay (for free). He was very friendly and accommodating with providing free power and water (watch out it is salty though). Contribution is by way of promoting his taverna. Quiet despite the nearby village. The tour operators taking people by boat to the blue caves can be a bit of a nuisance as is the possibility of crossing anchor chains but I would always go there again.
