While we enjoyed our stay in Statia and the bay is much smoother than Saba’s south side the town amenities require a taxi ride as they are all on the top of the hill in town. The holding in the anchorage was good, all sand. Slightly rolly but not uncomfortable. The customs process was fairly easy but took about 45 minutes to get checked in and cleared out for the next day. Customs office is a temporary metal building inside the breakwater which is clearly labeled and easy to find as you approach the dinghy dock. The cost was $45 for 6 of us on a 46’ catamaran. The grocery store was well stocked. The locals were all very friendly. Our taxi driver , Renee, was great and we highly recommend calling him for a ride +599 318 4383, tell him Kevin sent you for a 50% discount. We paid $30 round trip for all 6 of us plus groceries.

Island out of time (at the foot of a cliff). Small village nice with restaurants, bakery, supermarkets and pontoon for annex. Do not miss Scubaquadive Center. Nice dive on the wreck Charles Brown. Very clear water and beautiful background. Very few boats at anchor.
